Every now and then, when we crave chocolate, as many of us do, indulging in chocolate fat free treats are difficult to find over the counter and in most markets.
The following recipe is void of fat, low in carbs, and the calorie count is 25 cal per serving. A serving is one piece.
The demographics for this is as follows:
25 cal per cookie
1gm protein
6gms carb
0 gms fat
0 gms saturated fat
0 mg cholesterol
0.5gms fiber
13 mg of sodium
Recipe makes 24 chocolate cookies
Ingredients
one-half cup unsweetened cocoa
pinch of salt
one-half cup of sugar(divided)
3 lg egg whites
one-eight tsp cream of tartar
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tlbs of confectioner sugar
1) Preheat oven to 300 Degree F
2) In a small bowl sift together cocoa, salt and one-quarter of sugar
3) In a large bowl, with an electric mixer at medium-low speed, beat egg whites and cream of tartar until soft peaks form. Beat in remaining one-quarter cup of sugar a half tsp at a time until meringue is glossy and stiff peaks form. Fold in cocoa mixture and vanilla extract.
4) Drop by the rounded tsp about one inch apart onto prepared baking sheets. Bake 25 min for a soft cookie or 40 min for a crisp one. Dust cookie with confectioner sugar and enjoy.
By using cocoa to this recipe you are adding flavonoids to your diet and these compounds may prevent blood clots and hardening of the arteries.
Dark chocolate is higher in flavonoids because of its high cocoa content(and less sugar).
Tip of the day when indulging in chocolates that you buy, limit the amt. to 1 ounce a day.
Enjoy
